I am a researcher of artificial intelligence and visual culture, as well as a media industry professional. I work in the LuovAIn! – AI in the creative and cultural sector ecosystem project, which offers a vantage point for following the AI transformation in the creative industries. I aim both to understand changes in practices through a creator-centered approach, and to outline the broader structural changes that generative AI is causing.
In my doctoral dissertation I examine how social media and AI affect imagery dealing with Finnish nature.
I am broadly interested in the societal impacts of AI. I feel that AI is more than a technological disruption – it is, first and foremost, a force that changes the structures of society.
In my free time, I spend time with, among other things, nature, photography, and nature conservation. I serve as the chair of the North Savo Nature Conservation District and on the board of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation. I feel that in nature conservation it is important to strive to overcome polarization and build cooperation on the basis of shared meanings – we Finns truly are a nature people.
